Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Project

Client Background

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) manage emergency situations within Queensland including the fighting of bushfires in the fire season.

Project Requirement

After the 2019 drought in Australia and a horror 2019 / 2020 fire season QFES is establishing bases at high risk area airports to facilitate the mixing of fire retardant and water for the aerial fire fighting arm of the QFES airwing and contractor teams such as Kennedy Air. The AT802-A Air tractor fire fighting aircraft take 3000 kg per load of mixed retardant and there needed to be adequate water storage on site to keep up with demand if there was a failure in water supply. Check it our on Bundaberg Now.

Solution Provided

The team from Enmach worked with QFES personnel to design a series of water holding tanks and a PLS-7 7KL conical silo configured for water storage for the mixing of fire retardant and water. Three of Enmach’s PT29500 water tanks were supplied to the project due to their compact base size giving approximately 90kl of water storage on site allowing for 30 missions to be flown without refilling the onsite storage tanks.
