WestConnex Tunnel Project – June 2019
Client Background
WestConnex Tunnel Project is a 33-kilometre predominately underground motorway scheme currently under construction in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
WestConnex is a critical part of a broader plan to get Sydney and Australia, moving again, it is Australia’s largest road infrastructure project. WestConnex is easing congestion, creating tens of thousands of jobs and connecting communities, along with the NSW Government’s record investment in public transport. WestConnnex Tunnel should aims to be completed by 2023. When complete the WestConnex tunnel will provide motorists with a continuous, 33km traffic-light free motorway network. WestConnex tunnel will also have connections for future projects linking the north shore and northern beaches, Sydney Airport and the southern suburbs. The WestConnex tunnel project is mostly underground and will free up large areas in communities that are currently being turned into 18ha of playgrounds, parks and recreational facilities. Project Requirement
The subcontractor to the project for water clarification on site was Gradiant Australia (CRS Water). They approached the Team at Enmach enquiring if the 35kl cone bottom water clarification Poly Silos would be suitable to settle and clarify run off drilling water from the underground drilling machines being used in the tunneling project.
Solution Provided
The team from Enmach worked with CRS Designers to design and custom fit inflow, outflow and clean water take off pipe work into Enmachs PSL-35 liquid silo. Enmach delivered six of their 35kl cone bottom water clarification Poly Silos into the WestConnex tunnel project in Sydney N.S.W. The first delivery was into the Albert St, Saint Peters tunnel entry for the M4 – M5 main link tunnel head works site.
